We are closed March 8-24 for inventory & medical reasons. However, the Free Books for Boone program will stay open the entire time. There will be a slight delay (3-5 days) in responses from us while we're closed, and Sarah will reach out to you to arrange pickup once your book is ready. If you have any questions, please reach out to Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org
We started Free Books for Boone because we believe that everyone should have access to books, regardless of their ability to buy them. The Watauga Library is an amazing resource but we also understand just how lovely it is to have a book of your very own, that you don't have to return. We have lots of ARCs (advanced reader's copies of books) that we typically use for giveaways during events throughout the year. However, with all of our in-person events canceled for the time being and lots of folks who could use a book in our community, we thought this would be the perfect way to use these books.
So, we're offering 1 free book per person who applies. Anyone can apply but since we have limited supplies & want to serve as many people in need as possible, we have a few guidelines and one requirement. Please read closely before submitting your request form.
1. You live in Watauga County.
2. You may apply for a child under 12
3. Kids 12 & up can apply with a parent or guardian's permission
4. The requirement: You must be able to pick up your book
PLEASE NOTE: One free book per person, per year!
Please fill out your request form below as accurately as possible so we can pick the best book for you. Keep in mind that while we have many books, there's a limited variety and you may get something that's outside of your typical reading interest. We will use your information to find the best book possible. We will give out books until they're gone and will reopen applications again when we have more ARCs or donated books to give out.
