We love providing folks with reading materials because books have so often been the life raft that carried us through the toughest times in our lives. We can't imagine our days without the myriad books and characters that keep us company. If you have a little extra and believe we could all use a little escape or distraction, especially during the current pandemic, we'd love your help maintaining Free Books For Boone through the end of August, at least. We will keep adding ARCs as they become available and donating books from our own stock. We'd love to keep it going as long as you'll help us.
How to Help
We will accept donations of used books (we will not be giving credit at this time, the used book program is on hold) from supporters. You can drop off books to be used for the program on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9am to 5:30pm. You don't have to make an appointment but we would appreciate it if you let us know when you're bringing your books so we can be on the lookout for them. We will not accept books for the program outside of those days.
Donated books will be quarantined in a space just for them for 48 hours before we sort & process. Please do not donate books that are water/bug/animal damaged, that are marked or highlighted inside or on the cover, are out of date (eg: 1987 coin collector guide), are reference books (dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, etc), or have crumbly pages. Anything that does not work for our program will either be recycled (if it's too damaged to give to anyone) or it will be set out in our free book box in front of the store.
If you aren't getting rid of books anytime soon but would still like to help, a monetary donation would help us buy new books for our program library. Please use our donation jar and specify in the comments that the donation is for Free Books For Boone. We will buy books for the most popular genre requests.
If you would like to sponsor someone's request, please contact us and we will work together to get the perfect book for someone in our community
