FAQ for Customers


Please Note: Most of the questions about the online store (shipping, what's in stock, and how pickup at the store works) are listed at the top of the page of our online store. If you are placing an order, especially for pickup, please read all that information before placing your order. If you have questions about any of this, please give us a call & we'll be happy to help!
1. Do you ship?

Yes! We ship for free via USPS Media Mail for orders over $30. Orders under $30 will be charged a $5 flat rate for media mail. If you prefer Priority shipping, the flat rate for that is $9 per order. If you prefer shipping with another carrier, please contact us so we can price out that shipping option for you!

2. Where can we shop online? 

You can shop with us here. You can get audiobooks from our audiobook partner here. You can get e-books from our e-book partner here. 

3. How do I order books that I don't find in stock or on your website?

Currently, the best way to do that if you need books within a specific time frame is to call us at 828-386-1219. If you aren't in a rush, please email us at orders@foggypinebooks.com and our staff will respond & help you with what you need as soon as possible!

4. How will I be contacted about my order?

We primarily contact customers via email. Our e-commerce platform also sends out automatic emails about your order. If you haven't heard from us, please check your spam folder to be sure our emails didn't go to spam! Add orders@foggypinebooks.com to your contacts list to prevent our emails from being hidden. If you have placed an order for pickup, we will personally contact you as soon as your order is ready.


5. Do you sell used books? 

Yes, we do sell used books! Used books are not listed in our online store but our booksellers will be happy to help you get the book that you need. Please give us a call at 828-386-1219 to inquire about used inventory.

6. How can I donate to the Free Books for Boone program?

We accept donations of used books on Wednesdays & Saturdays during our business hours: 9am to 7pm. Please give us a call at 828-386-1219 when you are 5-10 minutes away from the store so we can be prepared and tell you where to go! If those days don't work for you, please reach out at the number above to schedule a time. You can read more about how to donate & what kinds of books we're looking for here. 

7. Are you open to the public?

We are now open to the public Monday through Saturday from 11am-7pm. We are available for drive thru pick up, phone calls, and emails Monday through Saturday from 9am-7pm. These are our normal hours, but our winter hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday 11am-1:30pm & 2pm-6pm, Wednesday 11am-3pm, Saturday 11am-6pm. Winter pick up times begin at 10am Monday through Saturday. Masks & sanitizing/gloving your hands upon entry are required to shop in-store. We are not allowing any lounging in the store at this time. We are excited to see people browsing with us again!

​8. Do you sell gift cards?

Yes! We have physical and digital gift cards available for purchase. If you would like a physical gift card, please call us at
828-386-1219 to place your order. If you would like to order an e-gift card, you can do that online here. 
9. Do you gift wrap?

Yes, we do offer FREE gift wrapping upon request. If you would like your order wrapped up as a gift, please make a note of that in the "order comments" section during online checkout or ask your bookseller during in-store checkout.

10. How are your books packed up for shipping?

We are very particular about how our books are packed for shipping! Each book is wrapped in bubble wrap to protect it from bumps, dings, and the elements. They're then either packed up neatly & tightly in a box so the books don't move during transit or they are packed into a bubble mailer. Either way, we go above & beyond to ensure that your books get to you in pristine condition. That said, if you are concerned about packing for shipping, please reach out to us! 

11. Are you hiring?

No, we are not currently looking for new booksellers. You can still fill out an application online here & someone will reach out to you if we have a position come available & decide to interview you. We will always review applications already on file before posting an available job publicly. 

12. Do you ship internationally?

Not yet! We are working on getting set up & our staff trained to be able to ship internationally. If you are an international customer, please fill out the interest form here and our booksellers will email you when international shipping becomes available. 

13. Do we buy back books?

No, we do not. See about donations below. 

14. Do we do consignment?

Not right now! We are too busy at the moment to give programs like this the time & attention they deserve. 

15. Are we taking book donations?

Yes! If you would like to donate books, we accept donations on Wednesday & Saturday each week, anytime during our business hours: 9am-7pm. Please give us a call about 5-10 minutes in advance of your arrival so we are prepared & have somewhere to put your books. We are not taking any mystery novels at this time. If the times listed above do not work for you, please give us a call at 828-386-1219 to arrange a drop-off time. 

​16. Do we have merchandise?

Yes, we do! We have shirts & hoodies available for purchase in-store. We do give out Foggy Pine Books bookmarks & stickers with each order. If you want to be notified about new merch, sign up for our newsletter!
