FAQ for Customers


Please Note: Most of the questions about the online store (shipping, what's in stock, and how pickup at the store works) are listed at the top of the page of our online store. If you are placing an order, especially for pickup, please read all that information before placing your order. If you have questions about any of this, please give us a call & we'll be happy to help!
1. Do you ship?

Yes! We ship for free via USPS Media Mail. If you prefer Priority shipping or shipping with another carrier, we'll take payment for that & ship out via your preference. 

2. Where can we shop online? 

You can shop with us here. You can get audiobooks from our audiobook partner here. 

3. How do I order books that I don't find in stock or on your website?

Currently, the best way to do that if you need books within a specific time frame is to call us at 828-386-1219. If you aren't in a rush, please email us at orders@foggypinebooks.com and our staff will respond & help you with what you need as soon as possible!

4. How will I be contacted about my order?

We primarily contact customers via email. Our e-commerce platform also sends out automatic emails & text messages, if you've signed up for them, about your order. If you haven't heard from us, please check your spam folder to be sure our emails didn't go to spam! If you have placed an order for pickup, we will personally contact you as soon as your order is ready. The automatic email from the e-commerce system will list a time that your order will be ready by but this is incorrect (I'm sorry! We can't stop them from going out!) and your order is not ready until our booksellers have personally contacted you.

**Please keep in mind that we were flooded with orders on Feb. 8th (
🎉🎉) & our small staff is moving as quickly as possible to process everything. Please give us a call at 828-386-1219 if you have questions or concerns about your order. 

5. Do you sell used books? 

Yes, we do sell used books! It takes a little more time to process them & get them onto our website than new books so the section online isn't very large. We'll continue to add to it as we are able to and will delete used books from the system once they've been purchased, since we typically only have one copy of each used book available & book conditions vary. 6. How can I donate to the Free Books for Boone program?

We accept donations of used books on Wednesdays & Saturdays during our business hours: 9am to 5:30pm. Please give us a call at 828-386-1219 when you are 5-10 minutes away from the store so we can be prepared and tell you where to go! If those days don't work for you, please reach out at the number above to schedule a time. You can read more about how to donate & what kinds of books we're looking for here. 

7. Are you open to the public?

We are not open to the public right now, due to the pandemic. We will re-open to the public once our staff has received their vaccines OR active cases in our area drop below 50. There are a variety of reasons for this but, primarily, the health & safety of our staff is of the utmost importance to us. We also value the lives of all the folks in our community & believe it's important for us to act responsibly during times of crisis. We hate not being able to see folks in-person but promise that we'll re-open our doors as soon as we feel that it's safe to do so. 

​8. Do you sell gift cards?

Yes! We have physical and digital gift cards available for purchase. If you would like a physical gift card, please call us at
828-386-1219 to place your order. If you would like to order an e-gift card, you can do that online here. 
9. Do you gift wrap?

Yes, we do offer FREE gift wrapping upon request. If you would like your order wrapped up as a gift, please make a note of that in the "order comments" section during checkout. 

10. How are your books packed up for shipping?

We are very particular about how our books are packed for shipping! Each book is wrapped in bubble wrap to protect it from bumps, dings, and the elements. They're then either packed up neatly & tightly in a box so the books don't move during transit or they are packed into a bubble mailer. Either way, we go above & beyond to ensure that your books get to you in pristine condition. That said, if you are concerned about packing for shipping, please reach out to us! 

11. Are you hiring?

Yes, we are currently looking for at least one more temporary, part-time bookseller to help us through this rush of orders. You can fill out an application online here & someone will reach out to you if we decide to interview you. Unfortunately, we are too busy to be able to email everyone who applied & let them know one way or another so please keep an eye on our social media & the employment page on the website for updates about when the positions are filled. 

12. Do you ship internationally?

Not yet! We are working on getting set up & our staff trained to be able to ship internationally by the beginning of March 2021. If you are an international customer, please fill out the interest form here and our booksellers will email you when international shipping becomes available. 

13. Do we buy back books?

Not right now! We are too busy at the moment to focus on buy back. 

14. Do we do consignment?

Not right now! We are too busy at the moment to keep track of programs like this. 

15. Are we taking book donations?

Yes! If you would like to donate books, we accept donations on Wednesday & Saturday each week, anytime during our business hours: 9am-5:30pm. Please give us a call about 5-10 minutes in advance of your arrival so we are prepared & have somewhere to put your books. We are limiting the number of books we accept right now to 10. If the times listed above do not work for you, please give us a call at 828-386-1219 to arrange a drop-off time. 

​16. Do we have merchandise?

Not yet but coming soon! In the meantime, we do send out Foggy Pine Books bookmarks & stickers with each order. If you want to be notified about merch, sign up for our newsletter! We'll send out a big announcement when the merch site is live.
