Hello, fellow bookworms! September is here and we have so much to share with you this month. Perhaps most exciting is our extended store hours! Beginning September 20th, we will be open until 9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Come snuggle cats and grab a book to get you through the weekend. We have added a bunch of new titles to our poetry section and you're sure to find something to love. Choose from titles released this year including Halal if You Hear Me (Breakbeat Poets #3) edited by Fatima Asghar, Some Girls Survive on Their Sorcery Alone by Thiahera Nurse, Brute by Emily Skaja, An American Sunrise by Joy Harjo (Poet Laureate of the US), Rattle & Numb by John Burroughs (coming soon to FPB), or one of our staff picks, All We Know of Pleasure edited by Enid Shomer & published by Carolina Wren Press, a small press here in North Carolina. If you’re looking for something a bit longer, check out our great selection of spooky titles, sure to set your spine tingling! Our favorites include Uzumaki by Junji Ito (staff pick), Dread Nation by Justina Ireland, The House in the Dark of the Woods by Laird Hunt (staff pick), Wanderers by Chuck Wendig, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara (staff pick), and The Changeling by Victor LaValle. They’re guaranteed to keep you up at night! Something scary not your cup of tea? You can also find great new reads from the Authors 'Round the South Okra Picks! Titles to look forward to this month include My Jasper June by Laurel Snyder, The Edge of America by Jon Sealy (coming to FPB this month), Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson, and No Judgments by Meg Cabot. Or take a peek at what the staff at Foggy Pine Books is reading this month. If you join us in reading one of the titles below, be sure to come by for an impromptu book chat! Mary: Lillian: Rasier: Katharine: As you know, September 22nd-28th is host to one of our favorite events, Banned Book Week. We will continue our annual tradition of hosting a Banned Books Reading on Friday, September 27th at 6 pm. We use this time to come together as a community to protest banning books by reading from them, out loud, together. Sign up to read from your favorite banned book, come out to the reading, and browse our banned books display. If you read during the event, we’ll give you a free ARC! We’re also offering 15% off all books on the banned book display during Banned Books Week. There are lots of other fun events this month and you can keep track of all of them by subscribing to our Google calendar. Use owner@foggypinebooks.com and never miss a thing! If you are a planner, be sure to snag a copy of our holiday catalog to get your wishlist started right. You can pick one up at Foggy Pine Books or browse online starting in mid-October. While you're here, you can also get one of our new stickers, perfect for your computer, water bottle, or car. Support your local bookstore for $1.25! As you can see, September is shaping up to be full of great events and great reads. We can't wait to see you at the store this month - read on!
